Join Forever Young for a one-of-a-kind introduction to retirement!  Preparing for and enjoying retirement takes great planning.  Spend the day with experts from health, housing, finance and travel fields and gain the knowledge you need to make the most out of retirement.

AGENDA – Doors open at 9am

9:30 – 9:40am – Welcome and introduction with Don Wall, editor of Forever Young

9:45 – 10:30am – DR. ELAINE DEMBE, “THE PASSION DOCTOR” Well known Toronto Chiropractor, life coach, inspirational speaker and author, will speak on passionate longevity - the 10 secrets to growing younger!  Be inspired and learn strategies to living a healthier, longer and more passionate life.

10:30 – 10:45am – Break

10:45 – 11:45am –  Garry Lapenskie, Instructor in the School of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University will present:  “You Are Too Young To Retire Your Body” This presentation will focus on some of the age-related changes in our bodies.  Body weight, muscle mass, strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness will be discussed.  Acceptance of what cannot be changed and strategies for making changes will be the topics explored.

 

11:45 – 12:15pm – Nick DiRenzo, President and CEO of Seniors Money in Canada will speak to the “Reverse Mortgage Option” and understanding how to leverage the equity in your home to fund your retirement.

12:15 – 1:30pm – Break

1:30 – 2:15pm – Gerald Bramm, a senior partner with the consulting firm Gray Matters Research will present “Customizing Your Own Retirement Plan”  Gerald conducts research, writes and speaks on topics related to our aging population.   His specific interests include the “new” retirement and aging workforce issues. 

 

2:15 – 3:15pm –   Jill Voytek of ORCA (Ontario Retirement Community Association) who will discuss basic questions are asked everyday by adult children and their aging parents as it relates to housing later in life: What’s the difference between a retirement home and a nursing home?  How much do they cost?  How do I find the right one for me or someone I love?  This session will be a map for navigating through the twists and turns that make up the care continuum

3:15 – 3:30pm – Break

3:30 – 4:00pm – Patti Passmore, a consultant with Investors Group Financial Services Inc. of Hamilton, will present “The Plan.”  Patti will discuss the challenges of Retirement Planning and strategies on how to over come them.   Patti will also focus on how important it is to have written financial plan and the steps in following the plan.
