On May 4 it was announced that Marjorie Bronfman, Montreal arts patron, has donated Claude Monet's Rock Needle seen through the Porte d'Aval to the National Gallery of Canada's international collection. This work will be on permanent display at the gallery. Rock Needle was painted in 1886 in the resort town of Etretat on the Normandy coast.
