Zoomer a silly gimmick
From Our Readers
Oct 01, 2008

Thank you for the opportunity to vent on this issue.

I see this as nothing but a gimmick and a silly one at that. I do not care for the sexual connotations that seem to accompany the use of this word "Zoomer" and all it implies.

I am hearing it now on the radio station I listen to. Moses Znaimer just bought it. I hear "Zoomer radio" and there is a "Zoomer report." Already I am sick of hearing it.

I may have to change my choice of station I have listened to for years.

Who is Moses Znaimer to shove this new word of his at us while he goes on an ego trip?

We don't all feel the same way about it or wish to conduct our lives the way this word apparently is implied, or Mr. Znaimer suggests we should.

"Doing it keeps you young"? I guess we know what that is supposed to mean. I find that statement offends me in my still relatively new state of widowhood. There are so many situations and in some cases words said that we widows and widowers have to close our eyes and ears to and this is just one more.

Besides that, I am terribly old fashioned and my morals are the same now as they were before I was married. We raised our children to uphold those same standards also. I am offended to hear someone tell me I should be out there looking for a partner and "doing it" as it keeps you young.

No, I am not going to follow Moses and embrace a more zesty lifestyle, nor will I zoom or zip or unzip, and therefore I certainly will not be "doing it" period.

He certainly is not considerate to those of us who happen to have strong moral standards. There are still some of us around.

Yes I believe it is a con and I do resent all the hype over it.
