The Forever Young May issue came to Burlington's Senior Citizens facility on a Thursday recently containing my plea on behalf of the Equality for Veterans Association (efva.co.uk), looking to assist ex-UK servicemen and women who left the service before April 1975 and thus were not awarded pro-rata pensions according to length of service unless they had served the full qualifying periods of 16 years for commissioned officers or 22 years for other ranks.
Since then I have had four calls from ex-UK servicemen and women. I can anticipate more as the paper circulates. The tragic thing is, if you had not placed the letter in your paper, these servicemen and women would never have known about the pension-equality rights due to them. One gentleman was 93 years old and had served all through WWll.
Thank you so much.
