It's the most delicious time of the year! The Toronto Wine and Cheese show uncorks its 25th show from April 4-6 at the International Centre and 2008 promises to be the best year yet. This annual tradition is a wonderful opportunity to sample award-winning wines, spirits, cheeses and gourmet foods, all under one roof.

This year, go beyond the booth-hopping show experience with a Wine Appreciation Seminar. Celebrity wine and food experts will cover a broad range of topics for all experience levels. From organic wines to decadent food pairings, there is a seminar for every wine drinker.

Don't let the word "seminar" fool you; the experts' enthusiasm is anything but classroom-like. "Everyone on the menu is extremely knowledgeable and fun," says Marti Milks, Show Manager for the Toronto Wine and Cheese Show. "You will leave laughing and with a ton of great knowledge. It's just an amazing experience!"

Those completely new to wine and to the show will enjoy "Challenge your Senses" with LCBO Product Consultant Gaetano Allocca. He will guide you through an informative tasting exercise that will delight your senses and teach you the fundamentals of tasting and evaluating wine.

Experienced wine drinkers will not want to miss "Best of Show-Award Winning Wines." Toronto Star Wine Columnist Gord Stimmel will unveil the 2008 Toronto Wine and Cheese Show award winners. He will uncork the best from around the world and you can earn bragging rights by being among the first at the show to taste them.

A session for wine aficionados of all levels is "Wine 101 - Essential Wine Styles." Mark Donaldson, a wine educator from Churchill Cellars Ltd., will lead a tasting of six essential wine styles to help you understand the subtleties that determine which foods go with each.

Looking for something a bit more decadent? Dan Kislenko of the Hamilton Spectator and Shawn Rocchi of the popular caterers Pair of Pears are teaming up with the battle cry: "Cheese lovers unite!" They will focus on Canadian cheese products served warm, cool and perfect paired with wines.

For the green-minded wine drinker, Angelo Bean, Product Consultant for the LCBO, will share wines grown and produced using low-impact, sustainable means in his session, "Artisan & Organic Wines." Or if you are feeling a little more adventurous, go on a "Naked Wine Tasting Adventure" with Angela and Paxton of iYellowWineClub.com. Don't worry, it's the bottle that will be naked as you challenge your own tasting abilities using bottles minus their identifying labels.

And who could possibly resist a seminar called "Wine and Chocolate"? Anna Olson, renowned dessert expert and host of "Fresh with Anna Olson" on the Food Network, will team up with Food and Drink magazine's Michael Fagan, aka The Matchmaker, to demonstrate some truly magical wine and chocolate pairings. You will sample dessert wines, a red icewine and an "unbelievable fruit wine made from raspberries, all matched with wonderful chocolate treats made with really great chocolate," says Fagan.

"Part of my mission in life has been to make people feel comfortable with wine," says Fagan. "It's a journey of discovery where there is no right or wrong, just what you like." Seminars will be held in intimate, state-of-the-art presentation rooms with lots of opportunities to ask questions and share. At just $40 which includes the $18 admission to the show, at least four wine samples and in some cases, food too, these are an amazing value.

Seating is limited to 60 per session and Milks warns that sessions fill up quickly. Book early to get your first pick and remember that as with the show, admission is restricted to adults 19 and over.
